This is National Asian/Pacific Heritage Month in the U.S. and Canada
The Canadian Senate passed a motion in December 2001, designating May as Asian Heritage Month. Canadians take part in festivities commemorating the legacy of Asian Canadians and their many contributions which have helped Canada become the multicultural and diverse nation it is today.

Beltane (Wicca) – Greets the summer. It takes its name from the Celtic God Bel who mates with the Earth Goddess on this day. It was a midsummer fertility festival in Celtic paganism. Maypole dances are presently held.
Vappu Day (Finland) – This day is Finland’s National Holiday, celebrates Spring and begins on April 30th.

I just attended a meeting with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Nicola Mercer, who provided an update on the swine flu situation.
There have been no reported cases of this flu in Guelph yet. Dr. Mercer advised that the symptoms and transmission of swine flu at this time are no different than the regular seasonal [...]
