In November, I announced that Guelph would develop a new economic development strategy to help address the current global economic situation, and position us for prosperity down the road. A lot of work has been done in the months since then.
As part of this work, I assembled a Mayor’s Task Force on the Economy, comprised of key business and community leaders. The Task Force has created a statement of principles that will guide a larger working group as they develop the strategy. What I have heard from Task Force members is that, while the current economic situation is certainly challenging, there are also many opportunities to be had if we plan carefully.
