A symposium is being organized by the Guelph Inclusivity Alliance and Immigrant Services Guelph – Wellington to provide an “opportunity for training, discussion and networking with the focus on building a more inclusive community”. As the promotional material for the symposium notes “(A)ccording to 2006 Statistics Canada data, international migration accounted for two-thirds of Canadian population growth in recent years. It is estimated that immigration with account for virtually all labour force growth by 2011, and will be the the primary source of population growth by 2030. Immigration will be central to the social and economic future of Canada and cities such as Guelph where approximately 21% of the city’s population are new Canadians”.
