Doing business differently at City Hall

Our CAO, Ann Pappert, announced some adjustments to City Hall today to position the organization to deliver results, performance and value to a growing city.

You will have heard me say the phrase “doing business differently” many times and in many ways. More precisely, this means “delivering public services better”.

We are creating a working environment at City Hall that promotes innovation and enterprise. The organizational changes that were announced today are aimed to support that goal.

The most exciting change is that our CAO is uniting the forces of our ‘enterprise & business staff’ – namely Downtown Renewal, Community Energy Initiatives and Economic Development – with our Finance Department to create a new service area called “Finance & Enterprise Services”.

Their mission is to continue to improve the financial position of the City through fiscal responsibility and the attraction of investment and jobs to our community.

This Service Area will be led by a newly designed position entitled “Executive Director, Finance & Enterprise Services”. We will also recruit a new General Manager, Finance. We are encouraging both private and public sector executives to consider joining us to lead. Read more here.
