A real zinger

Had a real zinger when I presented the annual Mayor’s Awards this week.  You can read about it by clicking here.

I feel bad for Doug who has clearly been impacted by the changes to our transit system.  I have asked our staff to follow up with him because I am confident there are options for him including our Mobility Service.

I also feel bad for our Transit staff to hear this criticism in this way.  They have put enormous effort into building a more effective and inclusive system for riders as a whole and they have been dedicated to assisting our riders with the transition.  We know change is not easy and when you have 25,000 riders a day, any change, regardless of how beneficial, will impact someone, in some way.

What I don’t feel bad about it selecting Doug for a Mayor’s Award.  He really deserves it.

I like to recognize volunteers that work quietly in the background making a difference in our community.  Just because they don’t seek the spotlight doesn’t mean they don’t have strong opinions!
