I just came out of a meeting with the Minister of Energy. Our delegation included Councilor Jim Furfaro, city staff, and representatives from Guelph Hydro and Magna. We were there to talk about our Community Energy Plan.
We have developed a good relationship with the Ministry. We have provided feedback at their request on the development of their community energy programs and have been asked to make a contribution to their Feed In Tariff Land Use Working Group.
We invited the Minister to a workshop in Guelph that we are hosting that involves two regions in Germany and the Washington region.
And we sought the approval of our District Energy projects in the downtown and Hanlon Creek Business Park as well a several solar projects.
The Minister will likely meet with about 30 delegations over the two days of the conference. Each delegation has 15 minutes to make a power pitch. We made a good team and look forward to the follow up from the Ministry of our requests.
