Guelph joins the rest of the world in commemorating International Women’s Day.
This day give us an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements, and to reflect on the challenges facing women around the world.
I appreciate many events that have been organized in our community.
This year, Canada’s theme is Working Together: Engaging Men to End Violence against Women. It is important for women and men to be part of the solution to end violence in any form. We are fortunate to have organizations in our community working to end violence against women and children. This builds a safer community for everyone.
One simple way this year to support International Women’s Day would be to send a donation to Women in Crisis or attend their Purple Carpet Gala fundraiser.
