Multicultural Festival this weekend

Making a Difference

This weekend marks the 12th Guelph and District Multicultural Festival in Riverside Park. You can find out more about the festival, including a schedule of events, here.

Here is a picture from the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, along with a reflection from volunteer organizer Carmela Nini:

The raising of the One World Living Together Multicultural Festival Flag is symbolic of the core objectives of unity and peace promoted by the Multicultural Festival and of our responsibilities as citizens of the world, to work together towards these goals! Gathered for the heart-warming ceremony, with Her Worship Mayor Karen Farbridge, the students and staff of Central PS, and the various community representatives, we raised the One World Living Together flag and also our wishes for peace in the world…

…a world of love, unity and peace, a world where all children may grow up realizing that boundaries may identify countries or cultural groups but we all belong to one world, that is shared by all.

A world where children can learn to love and to care, to be tolerant and respectful of different backgrounds and beliefs, to appreciate cultural uniqueness, to explore the vast diversity of human potential

and in so doing find peace and joy in the beauty of life!
