National Child & Youth Mental Health Day

May 7, 2010

Making a Difference

Today is National Child and Youth Mental Health Day.  Mental health challenges affect 20% of Canadian youth and children – over 2 million children and adolescents in Canada.

We have a group in Guelph that has been tireless in raising awareness about mental health issues in children and youth.  They are called Ad Vox Wellington.  Ad Vox Wellington adds together the voices of families, service providers and the community to educate and inform communities about the current crisis in mental health care for kids locally and across Canada.

My name is Ross McIntyre and I recently had the pleasure of attending the Guelph Awards of Excellence evening at the Delta. I was inspired to hear Judy Coulman speak on Ad Vox and surprised that I had not heard of this group before. I have experience in the mental health field and would very much like to contribute to the Ad Vox mission.

I was unable to find any contact information on the web. If it is possible to forward any information to me I would appreciate it.

    Thank you!
