I had the pleasure of planting a commemorative maple tree in historic Royal City Park yesterday .
This event was symbolic of City Council’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the City’s urban forest. As part of the Royal City Park Plant Material Management Plan, the City will plant more than 160 trees over the next several years to add to the park’s tree canopy and replace the existing and aging tree inventory.
The plan provides a long-term vision for trees and ground level plants in the park and demonstrates the City of Guelph’s commitment to respect the park’s cultural heritage; enhance its environmental and community benefits; and leave a legacy for future generations.
