Trails Take Flight

We have so many volunteers and volunteer organizations making a difference in our community.

The Guelph Field Naturalists (GFN) recently contributed to the award winning “Trails Take Flight” brochure and interactive web-mapping produced by the Grand River Country Marketing Alliance.

GFN is a voluntary non-profit organization whose objectives are to promote learning about our natural history; to care for and protect our natural environment; and to foster this learning and caring in our youth.

The on-site research and bird inventories which determined the top 20 trails for bird-watching in the Grand River watershed were a major contribution to the marketing campaign’s success.

The partnership between GFN, the Grand River Conservation Authority , Grand River Country Tourism, local bird enthusiasts and photographers has resulted in a product that has been recognized as best in its category at two provincial industry organizations (EDCO and Ontario Tourism) and also at the national level at the Economic Development Association of Canada.

Congratulations and thank you.
