“Guelph is Hockeyville” Challenge

January 3, 2011

Making a Difference

As Mayor I am extremely proud of the City for its generous support of the “Guelph is Hockeyville” bid.

Despite making great strides, we need to generate more buzz in the community to encourage people to log on to Kraft Hockeyville 2011 and share their treasured photos and stories to help us win.

Encouraging your employees to participate is a great way to foster community spirit and employee morale.

The City has undertaken a number of initiatives to develop awareness and encourage participation. You might want to consider any of the following for your organization and amongst friends:

  • Include Kraft Hockeyville 2011 logo and link on your organizational website
  • Utilize Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media
  • Utilize internal communication tools such as: employee newsletters, infonets, “hold” messages on phone systems
  • Include “Guelph is Hockeyville” signage at internal and external events
  • Advertise the initiative in the paper and around the community

Once again the deadline is January 30th, 2011.

Get out there and show your community spirit!

  1. Mary Caughill Says:

Considering that the city is actively discouraging skating on the many outdoor ponds around the city, it is not surprising this initiative failed. Perhaps a simple sign that says, “Skate at your own risk” would suffice. We are adults. The city’s response is silly.
