Guelph Royals

I have read the concern about the loss of the Guelph Royals this season.  I appreciate the work staff have done to respond to Council’s direction.  I have suggested some options for Mr. Rooney’s consideration.

Dear Jim,

I regret to read that the Guelph Royals have decided not to play in Guelph this year.

I do not know if the window has closed with the League but a one-year user permit – an extension of the existing arrangement – is still an option to allow the team to play this year.

Alternatively, you may want to consider appearing as a delegation at the February 8th  meeting (5 pm) of the Community and Social Services Committee to present the points in your proposal to staff that exceed their authority to approve.  If this is of interest, please contact the City Clerk to appear as a delegation.

    Mayor Farbridge,
Thank you for offering a possible solution for the Guelph Royals’ situation for 2011.Hastings Stadium is a wonderful place and the ballgames provide a nice family sports entertainment experience. The Intercounty Baseball League, of which Guelph is a charter member since 1919, is a Canadian – operated effort.I hope that the Royals will be playing baseball at Hastings Stadium in May of 2011.
Thank you for your help and concern,
    Ken Kruger
