Nominate a fellow citizen for a Mayor’s Award

March 2, 2011

Blog, Making a Difference

I am now accepting nominations of Guelph residents for the annual Mayor’s Awards.

The Award recognizes citizens who are making a difference. If you know someone who falls into this category and you’ve always thought they should be recognized, please consider nominating them for a Mayor’s Award. It might be someone you’ve volunteered with, someone whose efforts made a positive impact on your family, or someone you’ve admired for making something happen in our community.  For inspiration, you can click here to read about past years’ winners.

The nomination process is simple: send me a letter telling me about your nominee’s contributions and how they have made a difference. You can e-mail it to me at mayor@guelph.ca or mail it to my attention at 1 Carden Street, Guelph, Ontario N1H 3A1. Please include your contact information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail) and your nominee’s contact information. I need to receive all nominations by Friday, April 15th.

Winners are recognized at the annual Awards of Excellence dinner hosted by the Guelph Chamber of Commerce in late June.

Recognizing outstanding citizens is one of the great privileges of being mayor. I am always amazed at the many different ways Guelphites make a difference, and I look forward to reading this year’s nomination letters.
