Owens Corning celebrates 60 year in Guelph

Jobs & the Economy

I attended the 60th anniversary of Owens Corning/Fiberglas Canada  this weekend. The Guelph Glass Plant has employed generations of Guelph residents (and supplied many children with glass marbles!).  The company and their employees have been strong supporters of local sports teams, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, United Way, Heart and Stroke and other organizations.  They have also had a special relationship with Tytler School.  Owens Corning was also one of the founding supporters of our city’s Community Energy Plan.  Without their early support, the plan would not have been as successful as it is today.

I participated in a tour of the facility – what a fascinating process.  Congratulations on 60 years!
