Funding for the Arts

The City was successful in receiving $75,000 from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture’s Creative Communities Prosperity Fund.  An additional $48,300 will be generated from the private sector which is being facilitated by the Guelph Chamber of Commerce and Guelph Arts Council.  The funding will be used to undertake cultural mapping of our community cultural resources.  The data collected will be made accessible on a Geographical Information System which will allow the City and our partners to effectively use resources to enhance existing creative clusters, to address gaps and to improve community accessibility to cultural assets.  The World Economic Forum recently identified the importance of data accessibility for promoting social innovation across public, private and non-profit sectors.
