We officially opened Market Square and the skating rink today and recognized the many donors who made possible this wonderful new gathering place in our community.
I was asked by a reporter how I kept my commitment to the project over the years. Like so many projects of this size and complexity, there were unexpected delays and impacts. And, with all things we do, there were harsh opinions along the way from those who were less than supportive of the vision – at least at the beginning.
My answer?
It is about having faith. Faith in the democratic process. Faith in the people who step up to make the vision happen. Faith in the many professional who are engaged to deliver the vision.
Projects like this involve hundreds of people who roll up their sleeves to get the job done. They bring the authencity to the project and give me my faith in a successful outcome.
