One of the questions I heard as we were developing our growth strategy to respond to the Places to Grow legislation and accommodating a population of 175,000 by 2031 was whether the population projections were real. At the meeting of the Large Urban Mayors’ Caucus of Ontario yesterday, we had a presentation that the growth estimates were on target. The Ministry is starting to project and allocate population to 2041. We have barely wrapped our heads around 2031! I was able to confirm that local environmental constraints (like water supply) will be part of their analysis this time. This was not the case during the first round.
