Earlier this week, I wrote about a presentation I attended on the growth projections for the region in which we live.
Here are some other interesting points from the presentation:
- over 25% of Canada’s population lives in the region
- annually attracts nearly half of all new Canadians
- creates 70% of Ontario’s GDP
- will continue to be the fasted growing regions in North America
- immigration will be the main driver of population growth
- will be more seniors (people are living longer)
- will also be more children (women are having more children than previously expected)
- there will be more persons per household
- in contrast to other parts of the country, the Greater Golden Horseshoe will have a relatively high percentage of population in the working age group because of immigration
