We are starting the year on a high note with an Economic Summit to discuss the City of Guelph and County of Wellington’s economic development plans for the coming years. The inaugural Economic Summit will be held on January 15, 2013.
This is a great opportunity to look back and see where we are with regard to our 10 year Economic Development Plan.
There will be presentations by Chris White, Warden, Wellington County and Allan O’dette, President and CEO, Ontario Chamber of Commerce. My presentation will focus on the City of Guelph- Prosperity 2020- where we came from and where we are today.
A group brainstorming session will identify priorities for the region.
In the afternoon, an Action Planning Session will focus on:
- Workforce issues – skills development, immigration, youth employment
- Innovation- sector focus, industry-academic collaboration
- Entrepreneurship- youth engagement, global opportunities
Participants will identify actions, champions and decide on the way forward.
