There was a lovely letter in last week’s Guelph Tribune complimenting the service of a member of City staff.
What I really loved about the letter was the wonderful expression about our identity as a community – what drives our connection to this community:
“I’m grateful to be part of this great community, and Luke is one of the thousand reasons why I love Guelph. Luke makes me proud to be Canadian. He makes me proud to be an Ontarion. And he makes me gosh-darn proud to be a born-and-raised Guelphite. Thank you, Luke, for reminding me of the real reason why we all do what we do – to love and serve others – sometimes at our own expense.”
Luke turned the lights and fountain back on at Market Square at 10 pm so a couple could finish their wedding photos.
From its beginning as a community fundraising project – with the Rink Rats attracting over a $1 million for the skating rink and water feature – to Luke, this new part of Guelph continues to inspire us.
