A couple of weeks ago, I received the following drawing from a young child in the mail.
The youngster was not happy that people were smoking close to the water feature in Market Square. Fair enough. Turns out there was a waste receptacle for cigarette butts which was encouraging smoking close to the children’s play area.
I showed the drawing to Ann Pappert, Chief Administrative Officer. Only a few days later, the waste receptacle was gone!
Then I received the following drawing from this young person. I don’t know who this young person is but thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. This is a great story of civic engagement.
