Guelph tops in residential waste diversion

WDO Ron Lance Memorial Award presentation1

We made it official at last night’s Council meeting, as Dean Wyman (General Manager of Solid Waste Resources) and I accepted the Ron Lance Memorial Award from Waste Diversion Ontario. On the left is Michael Scott, CEO of Waste Diversion Ontario, and on the right is Will Mueller, Waste Diversion Ontario’s Oversight Analyst for the Blue Box and Used Tires programs.

As I reported earlier, Guelph won the award for having the highest residential waste diversion rate in Ontario in 2012.

Congratulations Guelph!

  1. John Prescott Says:

Dear Karen: I think it would be great if the city took 25% of the money raised by diversion and made it available to community groups such as kids’ sports. This would give us all a greater incentive to participate in diversion, and would be a neat barometer of how we were doing.
Great to get awards, well done, but money is better!
