In this photo, members of the Guelph Black Heritage Society accept the heritage designation plaque for their building, the former British Methodist Episcopal church. The building, which was built in 1880 by fugitive slaves who arrived through the Underground Railroad, has significant architectural as well as historical and cultural significance.
