Germany trip yields opportunities for Guelph

Last week’s trip to Germany with Guelph Chamber of Commerce President Lloyd Longfield was a tremendous success. Lloyd contributed a column to the Guelph Mercury that talks about the trip, and about our promotion of Guelph as a gateway to the North American market for energy-sector businesses. This builds on earlier media coverage from Germany.

Germany is way ahead of North America when it comes to energy management. The trip was an excellent opportunity for us to learn from the best in the world in community energy implementation. Because Germany is ahead of us, they also have a wealth of expertise and a mature energy business cluster. We were well-received in our message that Guelph would be a natural fit for energy-sector companies looking to export their expertise and expand their business into the North American market. In fact, a number of companies are already planning to send representatives to Guelph to learn more.
