National Day of Honour

The Government of Canada has proclaimed today as a National Day of Honour to mark the end of our country’s military mission in Afghanistan.

Guelph City Council marked this occasion with a moment of silence at our last Council meeting.

Guelph is home to several Afghanistan veterans – including one who is also a City employee, our General Manager of Public Works. Today, we offer a prayer of thanks to all those who served our country in Afghanistan, and to their families who supported them. We pay tribute to those who were wounded and especially those who did not return.
