Help bring the John McCrae Statue to Guelph

This is an image of the maquette of the statue to honour John McCrae.  Fundraising has begun to bring this statue to Guelph thanks to a group of local citizens.  An identical statue is being placed at the National Artillery Memorial in Ottawa.

Honourary Chair of the local fundraising committee is The Honourable William C. Windegard.  Dr. Winegard is joined by Col Gary Burton, Ann Guthrie, Ken Hammill, Robert Ireland, LCol Michael McKay, Robert Mullin, Murray Taylor and Margaret VanderWoude.

Born in Guelph, John McCrae was a famous Canadian soldier, physician and poet.  He died January 28, 1918 in Boulogne, France.  He left us his legacy, the world-renowned poem, “In Flanders Fields”.

Donation (cheques made payable to the 11th Field Regiment Charitable Foundation) can be sent to: LCol M.D. McKay, P.O. Box 970, Guelph, ON, N1H 6N1
