Costco officially opens tomorrow

July 24, 2014

Lots of interest in the official opening of Costco tomorrow.  Who to thank for bringing Costco to town?  That’s easy:

  • Costco members – more than 16,000 of them in Guelph
  • Costco – making the business decision to invest in the Guelph market
  • Armel Corporation – who attracted Costco to their development

The zoning change to support the Costco development was unanimously approved by Council last October. These lands were annexed into the city in 1966. Infrastructure to service these lands has been built over many years as this part of our city has developed.  The last term of Council approved these lands for a mixed-use node setting the stage for the commercial development.

Armel’s development implements the City’s growth strategy and vision for the west end while bringing good jobs to Guelph.

City building is a team sport involving many people from the community, business and local government.

The official ribbon cutting and opening is tomorrow (July 25) at 7:30 am.
